Basic Cardiac Life Support Course FAQs

BCLS, or Basic Cardiac Life Support, is a set of life-saving techniques used in
emergencies to sustain life until professional help arrives. It is essential for responding to
cardiac arrest and other life-threatening situations.

BCLS is required for most healthcare professionals who are in practice, be in in
governmental hospitals or in private/locum. First responders who are interested may also
apply, though there may be a significant learning curve.

The BCLS course covers fundamental skills covering adults and infants, such as
chest compressions, rescue breathing, conscious to unconscious choking, and the use of
an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Trainees learn to respond effectively to cardiac
emergencies.

BCLS often includes CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) as a component. BCLS
certification is generally more comprehensive, encompassing additional skills and
protocols beyond basic CPR.

BCLS certification expires after two years. Renewal courses are available to keep
trainees updated on the latest guidelines and techniques.

BCLS training may be available in both online and in-person formats. However,
hands-on skills practice is often a crucial component, and an in-person skills session may
be required.

BCLS focuses on basic life support skills, while ACLS is an advanced training
course designed for healthcare professionals, emphasizing more complex interventions
for cardiac emergencies. Unfortunately, Medlink Healthcare Group does not offer an ACLS
course currently.

Had a great experience learning under Instructor Agnes. Very patient and taught the concepts well. I feel that it's good to promote understanding more than just rote memorisation, which she was able to deliver on.

Attended the Standard First Aid course and my class trainer is Raymond. I agree with others that he gives negative vibes and condescending towards his students. Very low EQ and impatient trainer. He needs to learn that students pay fees to learn things, not to be put down and humiliated. We are all adult, there is no need for him to resort to shouting in class when we don't get things right. Good luck if you get him in your class.
