Child First Aid Refresher
Accredited by Singapore Resuscitation and First Aid Council (SRFAC) and recognised by Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA), the Child First Aid Refresher Course allows existing Child First Aid Providers to renew their certifications.
Participants who successfully complete the course will receive 3 certifications – BCLS, SFA, CFA – each valid for two years.
CPR + AED Module is included in this course.

Child First Aid course is a compulsory course for childcare and preschool professionals under the Early Childhood Development Agency’s licensing framework.
- Provide learners with safety information and standards for children and infants in Singapore.
- Prepare learners with the necessary skills in identifying, planning and managing a medical emergency at home or in school.
- Equip learners with the skills in rendering first aid for injuries and medical emergencies arising from common accidents among infants, children and adults.
- Equip learners with the skills in providing effective resuscitation (CPR) to an adult, child and an infant during medical emergencies.

- A valid certificate with not more than 3 months of expiry. Trainees are recommended to enroll for a refresher course 3 months before the date of expiry on your certificate to prevent any lapse in certification.
- Able to speak, read and understand English effectively as the course is conducted in English.
- Physically fit with no pre-existing medical conditions such as back trouble, knee/spinal/joints injuries, heart/lung conditions etc. Please consult a doctor if you have any pre-existing medical conditions before proceeding with the course.
- Trainees who are pregnant or suspect they are pregnant are highly discouraged from taking courses with CPR. Due to safety reason, we strongly discourage trainees from attending the course. It is advisable register for the course after maternity leave has ended.
Important Notes:
- Part of the assessment requires trainees to do 2 minutes of continuous chest compressions and ventilations and this can be physically strenuous.
- If you attend the course but opt out of the CPR+AED assessment, you will only be issued with a Certificate of Attendance.

Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents (PRs) are eligible for SkillsFuture (SSG) Grant. The grant amount is depending on citizenship and age of the trainee.
Trainee has to fulfill the following criteria to successfully receive the SSG Grant. Otherwise, Medlink Healthcare Group (MHG) reserves the right to claw back the grant amount from the trainee if trainee did not meet the following criteria.
- Payment of the balance course fee after SSG Grant shall be made to
MHG before the start of the course - Trainee has to set up SingPass account and has access to the SingPass
app on their smart device with a functioning camera to digitally scan
for attendance. - Trainee has to achieve 100% attendance and pass all the assessments

Course Assessments
Upon successfully completing the Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation course, learners will be awarded with a certificate to recognise their competencies.
THEORY ASSESSMENTS
(3 attempts allowed) - 1 hour
This assessment comes with 50 multiple choice questions. The questions are broken down into:
Child First Aid - 10 questions
A minimum of 70% must be correct to pass
Standard First Aid – 20 questions
A minimum of 70% must be correct to pass
Basic Cardia Life Support – 20 questions
A minimum of 70% must be correct to pass
CPR (Hands Only) + AED – 10 questions
A minimum of 80% must be correct to pass
Practical Assessment
Learners will undergo scenario-based tests. This is to ensure that they can carry out the necessary first-aid steps across multiple medical emergency scenarios.

ATTENDANCE: 100% course attendance is required to be eligible for assessment.

Upon successfully completing the standard first-aid course, learners will be awarded with these 2 first aid certificates to recognise their competencies.

Basic Cardiac Life Support + Automated External Defibrilator (BCLS+ AED) Provider
This course is accredited by the Singapore Resuscitation and First Aid Council (SRFAC) and Sports SG. The certification is valid for 2 years. Results will be released on the day of training or after 2 working days after the course ends. A pass (credit card size) of achievement will be issued to all participants after the release of the results.

First-Aid Child Requirement for Setting Up Early Childhood Development Centre (ECDC)
When applying for a child centre, the Principal/Key Personnel plus two (2) programme staff must all hold valid Child First Aid (CFA) certifications. This certificate must be accredited by the National Resuscitation and First Aid Council. The Key Personnel is a part of the centre staff that assumes leadership roles and makes important decisions for the Principal. In centres that attend to more than 150 children at any given time, an additional staff may be required for every 50 children. The additional staff must also secure a valid CFA certification as a requirement.
Staff-to-Child Ratio Requirement for Children Above 18 months to 6 years old
There must be enough staff present in the centre during programme and non-programme hours. This table indicates the ideal ratio of staff to children, in relation to the age groups. For Class B Licence, the programme hours run from 9 am to 5 pm. Non-programme hours are from 7 am to 9 am and 5 pm to 7 pm.

Additional Requirements
The centre must have at least 2 staff members present during non-programme hours, wherein one is a programme staff. It is required that at least one of these staff members has a valid CFA certificate. In mixed-age groups, the staff-to-child ratio must comply towards the requirement for the youngest child that belongs to the group.

Staff-to Child Requirements for Class A Licence
For ECDCs that provide infant services, the centre must have the ideal programme staff-to-infant ratio especially within operational hours which is from 7 am to 7 pm. At least 2 programme staff members must be present at all times, wherein one must be an Infant Educarer. Moreover, at least one staff member must hold a CFA certification that is approved by the National Resuscitation & First Aid Council. A fundamental caregiving system must be established to ensure constant support and balanced care for the infants.
